Kathie Wheeler is a classically trained representational oil painter whose work is inspired by the people and places in her life. She grew up in the Chicago area and studied at the American Academy of Art. She now lives on a small farm near Viroqua, WI, with her husband. Kathie is a lifelong student of painting and a signature member of Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, and American Women Artists. She serves as the vice chair of the board of American Impressionist Society and is the Wisconsin State Ambassador and member of the Portrait Society of America.

Of her work, Kathie says: “Drawing and painting have been lifelong passions. The intent of this show of my work at VIVA is not as an artist who has arrived, but to share a glimpse of my journey as an artist.”

VIVA Gallery’s opening reception of Kathie’s work is 1st Thursday October 2, 5pm to 7pm. She will speak about her artistic journey and give a demonstration. Her work will be on display through October. Don’t miss it!
