May 2nd, 1st Thursday Open House Reception in May, will be a special gathering at VIVA Gallery. We are celebrating our 20th Anniversary, showing the work of alumni VIVA artists along with 2023 Driftless Area Art Festival Peoples Choice winner Pete Sandker. We will also welcome a new VIVA member, Zoe Craig.

We are happy to welcome back DAAF Peoples Choice winner Pete Sandker. His work is inspired by going to the woods or sitting beside water to listen and observe. Then, taking what he sees and hears back to the studio, he puts it on paper. Pete says he is not trying to say anything with his work, he’s only repeating what the earth tells him. Imagination, originality and a bit of fantasy is evident in every piece of Pete’s work.

New member Zoe Craig. Zoe was our guest artist in February. Her pottery and prints will be a welcome addition to the gallery.

Come walk down memory lane with us as we commemorate the 20 years this cooperative art gallery has been a presence on Main Street in Viroqua. VIVA member Maureen Karlstad, one of the five founding members, will share a few highlights of our history. We are proud of working together to provide space for local artists and their work. Please join us for 1st Thursday in May to share in the appreciation of our artist members, present and past, plus all who have made VIVA a stop for shopping local art in the past 20 years. We’ll have cake! Sweet and savory finger foods will also be on the table.
