Winter Wilderness Skills Outing (with Nicholas WazeeGale)
February 17 @ 9:00 am - February 18 @ 4:30 pm
$260 – $460This two-day experience will introduce participants to the world of winter camping and the necessary wilderness skills to make it comfortable and enjoyable. We will trek into the Black River State Forest, sleds in tow if snow is adequate, and set up a camp for the night. Wall tent and cold camping options will be available. We will cook on the fire and on the wood stove, learn from and explore the wilds, track wildlife (quite possibly wolves, porcupines, bobcats and other northern denizens). We will learn to keep warm, tend to our basic needs, and savor the rare flavors of a night out in the winter wilds.
Please be prepared to invest in (or make!) some solid gear like good boots, winter sleeping bag, winter pants and parka for this experience if you don’t currently have them. Also be ready to pitch in fully on this experience as it will require much wood cutting, trekking in snow, attention to detail, positive attitude, and weight-pulling (literally) from all of us. Some physical fitness and tolerance to discomfort will be required for this outing.
