Kimberly Burnett is June Guest Artist

Kimberly Burnett is a self taught fine artist and illustrator. Growing up in an isolated region of North Carolina, she was surrounded by forests and wild animals. From age 2, she says she knew she was going to be an artist. She took out every art book in the local library and was constantly drawing. At age 14 she began working with oils, oils has become her medium of choice.

Her work is defined by a degree of realism inspired by her love of the classical painters of old Europe. She experiences a perceptual phenomenon, synesthesia, in which your brain routes sensory information through multiple unrelated senses; for example ‘tasting’ words or colors or associating colors to numbers and letters. This influences color and figurative choices in her work. She says nature and people she loves inspire her most.

You are invited to 1st Thursday Opening Reception June 5, 5pm to 7pm, meet the artist, hear her story and see her work as she demonstrates her painting technique. Along with sharing an evening of art and artists you can sample delicious refreshments. Start your evening at the gallery and then have dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in town.
