Anne Butera is VIVA’s guest artist in October and VIVA’s newest member. She is a self-taught artist working mainly in watercolor finding inspiration from nature and her backyard garden. She writes ‘The thrill of the first flower unfolding in spring. The bliss of a sun warmed tomato eaten straight from the vine. The perfection of a handful of acorns discovered on a walk. There is magic in the most ordinary bits of nature’. Her watercolors offer a connection with the wonder of the natural world many of us leave behind as we grow up. The fascination of the everyday, the beauty of a single flower petal, the study of  plant and its parts are unveiled in her work. Her art and writing have been published in magazines and she was profiled in the book Botanica. She writes the blog My Giant Strawberry and teaches online.
