“Science, Sympathy, and Social Change: the Power of Civil War Medicine” will be the subject of the free public program on Tuesday, October 3, at 7PM, at the Vernon County Museum and History Center. Dr. Sharon Ann Holt will be our presenter for the evening. Dr. Holt has a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives in New Jersey but has family in Viroqua, and we are fortunate that she is willing to share her expertise with us. The program will include stories of battlefield injuries, the profession of nursing, and medical innovations of the Civil War era.
