Planting for the Birds
April 10 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Free
The McIntosh Memorial Library is excited to present an important environmental program, “Planting for the Birds,” with Ben Johnston, GIS and Habitat Specialist of Valley Stewardship Network, on Thursday, April 10th, at 5:30 PM in the Library Lobby. This event is part of a partnership with the Valley Stewardship Network and will focus on helping local bird populations thrive.
Over the past 50 years, bird populations across North America have declined by 25%. One of the key actions in reversing this trend is promoting the use of native plants, which provide essential food sources and habitat for birds. The Planting for the Birds presentation, led by Ben Johnston, will highlight habitat restoration practices and the importance of native plants in supporting bird survival. Attendees will learn about simple yet impactful steps that landowners and homeowners can take to support local bird populations. The presentation will discuss general habitat concepts and offer practical advice for planting native species that benefit birds, including a look at specific plants that are essential for their well-being.
