Our first winter meeting of the 2025-2026 season is Nov. 5th at the Coon Valley Conservation Club (S1005 Knudson Ln, Coon Valley). We’ll serve dinner at 6:00, and the meeting will follow at 6:30.
The night will open with Kristina Weld, training specialist with the Wisconsin Prescribed Fire Council, as well as members of the Southwest Wisconsin Chapter of the Prairie Enthusiasts. They’ll speak about the history and importance of fire in our region, discuss resources and training opportunities for those interested in integrating fire onto their landscapes, go over tips for fall prairie establishment, and share stories from the ongoing burn season.
Then, specialists from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Managed Forest Law Program will join us to speak about that work, and will answer questions about enrollment requirements and forest conservation practices in our steep landscape.
We are particularly excited to be sharing free native prairie and wildflower seed samples at the meeting, while supplies last.
