Temperatures in the Midwest may be dropping, but don’t let that keep you cooped up indoors all season long. There are still plenty of fun activities and events to explore throughout the winter! Bundle up and explore the seasonal sights, sounds, and activities and see how Viroqua is truly a destination with year-round discoveries to be made.
Merry & Bright
One of the highlights of the holiday season, Twinklefest is always one of the most joyous and festive days of the year! Join the community along Rock Avenue for a holiday-themed parade featuring lighted and decorated floats from local businesses and organizations — plus hot apple cider and popcorn!
Don’t miss this annual holiday kickoff! The 2024 Twinklefest parade starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.
Downtown Discoveries
A little retail therapy is just what you need for respite from the frigid temperatures. Main Street in Downtown Viroqua is lined with a wide variety of locally owned shops and boutiques full of unique gifts, everyday necessities, and self-care items. The Viroqua Public Market — located in the historic Main Street Station at 215 S. Main St. — features an incredible selection of products and services, including books, toys, jewelry, vintage clothing, and home decor, making it a must-stop destination on your shopping spree.
The Greatest Outdoors
Who says you must spend winter hunkering down indoors? The Driftless Area transforms into a frozen wonderland during the winter months, providing a natural playground for some of our favorite seasonal activities. Pedal your way through the snow with some fat-tire cycling at Veteran Hills Fat Bike Trail. This 4-mile trail loops through wooded areas and wide-open spaces, providing a thrilling ride for winter bikers. No bike on hand? No problem! Rentals are available from the experts at Blue Dog Cycles.
Snowfall deterring you from walking through the outdoors? You’re missing out! Snowshoe trails like the 2-mile Hubbard Hills and Sidie Hollow are fantastic spots to enjoy the winter scenery, as are the cross-country skiing trails at Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center and Kickapoo Valley Reserve. And if you’re still regretting the Big One getting off your line, you can still reel in some trophies ice fishing at Sidie Hollow.
There’s much more to see and do in the Driftless Area! Explore Viroqua Wisconsin and plan your next memorable getaway today!
